Honeymooners, minimooners, brides and grooms to be…we suspect this year has been a rollercoaster of emotions rescheduling, re-thinking and re-organising your big days. We have spent the past 10 months getting creative hoping to bring some date night sparkle into people’s homes – doing all the planning so you don’t have to! Whether you had to postpone your honeymoon, you’re on a smaller budget or you want to recapture that ‘honeymoon phase’ here’s how you can create a romantic honeymoon at home.
Build anticipation
Pick a date in advance and pop it in the calendar. There is nothing more exciting than having something great to look forward to – and due to the pandemic we all know how difficult it has been to make future plans. Pick a date where you and your partner are 100% available where the whole 24 hours can be all about you. Then, let the countdown begin!
Dress up
Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to feel at your best. Put on whatever makes you feel amazing – whether that be a glamorous dress or suit or your comfiest onesie with a red lip! Dressing up marks the occasion and makes it feel that extra bit special.
No distractions
Try and be 100% present. Get that phone on flight mode and forget about the outside world for a while. Creating this feeling of intimacy will allow you both to fully connect and be spontaneous!
Set the mood
Who says your 1 bed flat in north London can’t be turned into a romantic Tuscan villa? Ok maybe a little imagination required here but stick with us. Candles lit, table set, cosy blankets draped, music playing, the smell of an Italian feast cooking in the kitchen and a negroni spritz in hand…need we say any more?
Try something new
On a holiday or honeymoon we often try new things like watersports, new cuisines or classes. Well, at home there are still 100s of opportunities to feel the fun and excitement of shared experiences like these. Learning something new with your partner not only brings you closer, but gives you a joint sense of achievement no matter how big or small! Why not try couple’s yoga, pottery, poker, a new board game, baking or dancing! Go out of your comfort zones…you’ll be surprised at how much fun you’ll have!
If you want to skip all of this planning completely – at Box42 our date night boxes include a full date night guide with snacks, drinks, mood setters, menus, activities and much more. Each box has a different theme so you can pick your ‘home honeymoon’ of choice or you can subscribe for a monthly surprise box! Find out more at www.thebox42.co.uk
