Your wedding is going to be the most special day of your life. The planning process is supposed to be fun and exciting. Most people think about and plan their wedding before they have even found that special someone. So, the last thing you want is for something to go wrong. While you might know everything that you need to do to get the planning underway, you may not be aware of the things that you need to avoid. To help you on your journey to planning the best wedding ever, here are some of the most common mistakes.

#1 Not sticking to your budget

Your budget is there for a reason, so you must stick to this at all costs. One of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to wedding planning is not paying attention to their budget, or thinking that it would be okay to go over it just a little bit. Unfortunately, this can add up very quickly. Money can quickly turn into a very stressful subject, so you must mitigate any stress by setting a budget that you are happy with, and sticking to it at all costs.

To help this, you should conduct thorough research before you set your budget, so you know roughly how much everything is going to cost, from the dress to the wedding venues. This will ensure that you can still have the wedding of your dreams. You will be able to save enough funds to make it perfect.

#2 Not making the wedding your own

Weddings are all over visual platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest. This is an amazing way to create mood boards and plan the wedding of your dreams. However, one mistake that brides-to-be tend to make, is to make their wedding fit someone else’s template. In addition to this mistake, many people will plan their wedding so that it looks more picture perfect for Instagram. This is a trap many people fall into, and worry too much about what the photos will look like, instead of the experience.

Your wedding is your special day, so you should make it your own. Use others as inspiration, but then go crazy with all the details that you want. This will ensure that you get the big day that you want, and making it unique will make it extra special for you and your spouse.

#3 Not creating an itinerary

An itinerary is vital for your big day. It would be a huge mistake to not create one and share it with your wedding planners, the venue, and your guests. There needs to be a structure to the day, with specific timings for each component of the wedding. When you and your guests know what these are, you will create a day that flows seamlessly into one. This is especially helpful for guests coming from out of town, and where you have things like a ceremony, photographs, drinks, and a reception.

Planning a wedding is a really important part of the process of creating your perfect day. Make sure you avoid these common mistakes!
