July 2019 wedding planning update

I've decided to start posting wedding updates so I can look back and so you can see what we've been up to and where so are with planning. There won't be updates every month I don't think as there'll be some months where we won't have done anything but when I have news to share on planning it'll all be summed up in these posts!

While June was a busy month wedding planning wise, July slowed down again. To be honest we're really organised and most of the big stuff is done so these posts may be a little quiet for a while. As I've said though, I never intended for them to be a monthly thing though, just an update when there is actually something going on. So here is what happened in July:

Wedding rings

I unexpectedly bought my wedding ring! I didn't intend on buying it with so long to go until the wedding but I'd seen a ring online from H.Samuel that I couldn't make my mind up about. While we were out shopping I decided to call into the store to see it in real life and it was beautiful, much nicer than its online photo and it went with my engagement ring perfectly so it made sense to get it! I had to wait a week for it as I'm one of the smallest sizes you can get but now it's at home I can't stop looking at it. I can't wait to wear both of my rings together next year. My wedding ring is actually a size smaller than my engagement ring so I'm currently debating whether to have my engagement ring resized or not.

When I bought my ring we got Josh's finger measured which sparked a conversation about Josh not having a ring. We've decided that Josh won't be having a wedding ring as he'd be taking it off more than putting it on and he really doesn't like the feel of a ring on that hand. I know some brides will be shocked by this but I'm honestly not bothered. A ring doesn't prove anything and doesn't make him anymore committed and there's no point in spending money on something that will hardly be worn. He actually wears a ring on his right hand that I bought him, it's a titanium and diamond ring which is exactly what he would have bought as a wedding ring anyway so I'm more than happy for him to just wear that on his right hand. I think I'm going to write a whole blog post about this as I know it's not a very popular or traditional decision.

Bride-to-be accessories

O.K not necessarily wedding planning at all but bride-to-be accessories excite me so they're getting a mention! This month I bought those bride flip flops from Primark that are everywhere, I've put them away for next summer though. My future mother-in-law also got me some Disney bride-to-be pj's that I'm going to be living in for the next year!

Hair and makeup

My thoughts on hair and makeup keep changing so I thought it was worth documenting here as it's something I've been thinking about a lot this month so it'll be fun to look back at this compared to what I actually end up doing. My original plan was to have my hair down however we're getting married in August and my hair is pretty long, I have no intention in cutting any of the length off between now and the wedding so it'll be even longer by the wedding. I feel like with my hair down I'm going to get too hot and you won't see the back of the dress properly. I feel more like myself with my hair down and Josh prefers it too, however I've found some updo's that we both really like so I'm definitely going to be trailing an updo.

As for makeup, I started looking at makeup artists and was kind of shocked by the prices I was being quoted. I figured it was something I was just going to have to pay out for but then I bought some new makeup this month that has blown me away and I'm honestly considering doing my own makeup now. I'm going to have a play around and practice over the next months and hopefully I'll make a firm decision about what I'm doing.
